Birds of Fivebough

Birds of the Fivebough Wetlands since 1915

Sharp-tailed and Marsh Sandpipers at FiveboughKeith Collingwood McKeown observed and kept the first known records of bird species for the Leeton area including Fivebough Swamp during the period 1915-1921.

To date at total of 188 species have been recorded at Fivebough Swamp. Thirty nine of the 188 bird species are additional records since September 1, 1997 when the Fivebough and Tuckerbil Wetlands Trust commenced rehabilitation and conservation management of the wetland.

Bird species list taxonomic sequence follows Christidis and Boles 2008.
